Time to Trust ... I am getting the message loud and clear!

How has your week been?

If I had to use one word to describe the theme of my week, it would be Trust with a capital T! ;) For a word that instills such a sense of hope, I have to admit for that a very long time I have felt nothing but daunted by it, and what it means for me.

You know those sayings....

Go with the flow

Trust the process

Well yes, we all know them, but who finds this easy to do?

I'm happy to admit - certainly not me!

The capricorn-sun-virgo-rising within me constantly wants to know how I am going to reach my goals, worrying about taking the 'right' next steps and needing the 'intangible' to be waaayyy more 'tangible' and obvious. And gosh, I hope that I am not the ony one! In saying that, I think we all know deep down that we need to release this pressure or perfectionsim - we need to let go of needing to control everything and make space to allow. To see what happens when we TRUST.

I got this 'trust' message loud and clear a number of times over the course of the week. During meditation. During a kinesiology session. During an astrology session based on my birthchart. I also found elements of it speaking to me through Instagram and the posts that were popping up in my feed. Plus, I'm reading The Alchemist and well, if you have read it you will know, it's all about trusting in your soul's journey.

So I have been upping my 'trust' game!! It's been the focus of my journalling. I have been creating little mantras for mediation or affrimations for saying in the car. I have also printed out the word trust on little bits of paper and popped them in random spots where they will act as constant little reminder to me. Keep believing. Release unhealthy control. Stay open to 'allowing'.

The beach has been an ideal place to spend time this past week. The waves a reminder of how when we tune in to the water element, things can flow more easily.....

And in our flow, well then that's where the real magic happens, doesn't it!

I am smiles today! Last night I hosted my first Goddess Group in Bondi and it was such a beautiful night. My heart is bursting to think that another group is being created, and I can only hope it flourishes as much as our Newcastle girl gang! Hehe :)

To have time to gather with other women, listen to their stoires and have that reassurance that we are not alone in our stresses, our challenges, our self-love adventures - it is so grounding and I am grateful every week.

At tonight's Goddess Group we are talking 'Love'. And specifically, Self-love.

Initially when I thought of this topic, I felt a twinge inside me. A ltttle alarm- that inner critic fired off some doubtful, fear-based thoughts. Who else can find it easier to critique themself, than say words of love and affirmation?

Rather than changing the topic, I knew this was an area for growth! We need to be able to value ourselves and celebrate the amazing qualities that make us the divine goddesses that we KNOW we are!

So I ask you to ponder - What is it that YOU love about YOU?
Could you express (to yourself, a friend or a family member) what you feel makes you a pretty great human?  And without feeling embarrassed or conceited?  What do you believe are your beautiful gifts/talents/qualities?

Then OWN these wonderful qualities you possess and know they make you the special person that you are.

Go shine your light my friends, go shine them bright!

From my heart to yours,

Karen xxx

Is it time to nourish YOU? 3 simple ways to add a little self care to your week!

We hear the terms self love and self care so often, but what do they actually mean to you?

Does a few hours in day spa come to mind? A nourishing meal? Is it making time to see your girlfriends and enjoy a bottle of bubbles? Or is it going for a run to clear your head? Any, or all, of these could be ways to show yourself a little love. And that’s the trick – it’s finding what makes YOUR heart smile and making time for that in your busy schedule!

For me, self care and self love are intertwined. In my own experience, and so often with the clients I see in my practice, all we really desire is to find simple ways to care for ourselves. We seek actions that will help us restore and replenish our energy levels and discover vibrant health on all levels – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. When we begin to tune in to what our mind and body needs, and we allow ourselves to move with more flow and from a place of intuition. And it is from here that our self love grows. We realise we are SO worthy of taking time for self-nourishment. By filling our cup first, we are then so much more able to give to others, and ourselves, from a place of love, gratitude and high vibration :)

1.     BREATHE

For quite a few years now, meditation has been a key part of my self-care routine. It has been the one practice that has stayed constant and become so integral in assisting me to connect to myself, my thoughts, my hopes and visions. Meditation not only allows us to ease our mind, relax the body and nourish the nervous system (by taking us out of fight-or-flight), it also creates space to just be with ourselves and strengthen this inner connection to self. It’s good to remind ourselves that everyone’s practice will look different and that a big part of it is discovering what resonates with you. I am also a huge fan of yoga! I find it such a nourishing way to move my body, connect to the breath and find a sense of calm within my day.

2.     LOVE

I absolutely love affirmations! Why? Because repetition is the key to rewriting old subconscious programs that no longer serve us. Too often the words we use when speaking to ourselves come from a place of fear and not love, and so positive affirmations help switch this mindset and develop a new sense of kindness and confidence towards ourselves. I do affirmations all time - when I am driving, putting on my make up, hanging out the washing, brushing my teeth - whenever! By thinking or saying kind words to ourselves, we begin to truly nourish our minds (rewriting neural pathways!) and over time we find this is becomes reflected beautifully in our physical environment, health, self-esteem, relationships, career, finances or other areas of our life.

3.     SMILE

Do something that makes your heart smile! It could be as simple as sitting down with a cuppa or taking your fur baby for a walk to the beach. Maybe it’s wearing red lipstick to work when you usually save it for Friday night out. Your idea of heaven might be blocking out 3 hours of your Saturday to watch Netflix, or buying fresh flowers from the market each week. Some of my favourite things to do are sitting outside in the sunshine with a good book, having a reiki treatment or massage or enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the day. Whatever the action, big or small, do what lights you up!

hello from the happy co!

My name is Karen and I am the dreamer behind the happy co. I am an intuitive reiki healer, holistic counsellor, meditation guide, teacher, lover of meditation, yoga and crystals, proud pug mum and traveller at heart.

Prior to diving deep into the beautiful world of holistic health, I worked as a Primary school teacher and Assistant Principal for 13 years in Sydney and Newcastle, of which I found a lot of joy and satisfaction.

In 2016, my hubby and I ran away for the best part of a year to live out of backpacks and travel the world! We visited many parts of South East Asia, India and Nepal and to say it changed my life might sound a bit OTT - but it's true!

There are no more important lessons than the ones you learn when travelling, and I am very grateful for all the experiences that have helped me understand more about myself and deepened my passion for holistic health.

Since then, a combination of formal study and a range of serendipitous experiences has helped me to turn something I love into something I live - and something I want to share. And with that decision the happy co was born.

the happy co. is simply named – because don't we all just want to be happy? My little Audrey brings a lot of love to the equation. Enjoying snuggles, sun baking on the porch, chasing balls at the beach (but never picking them up!) - she is my heart, she is my happy.
